Lozzy & Reuben: A Ceremony Full of Wit, Tradition, and Confetti at The Mount Without
I first spoke with Lozzy and Reuben a couple of years ago, and we’ve been sending each other silly Insta DMs ever since. There’s something very special about seeing a story you feel like you’ve been part of for so long finally come to life.
The Mount Without is a seriously fit venue with a ceiling to die for, and part of its charm is its history - dating back to the early 1100s. It has weathered centuries of storms and yet still stands strong and beautiful. Somehow, that felt perfectly symbolic for Lozzy and Reuben, who, like the venue, have navigated their own storms and are now stepping into life together with all the fun, wit, and gorgeousness that makes them them.
Lozzy works in the wedding industry as a photographer, so she’s seen countless ceremonies. When she approached me, she knew exactly what she wanted: something traditional but not archaic, funny but not silly, emotional but not soppy, relaxed but momentous. I love that about them. Their brief was clear - they wanted their ceremony to feel perfectly them.
I’ve been following Lozzy on Instagram for ages, and her witty, dry humour is legendary in short, snappy captions. I knew I had to make every single line of their ceremony count. I interviewed them extensively, making sure their story was captured in a way that showcased their humour, their cleverness, and their personality.
They also wanted to keep some things traditional - no big twists, just classic moments done their way.
(Apart from a cheeky ceremony selfie!)
Lozzy’s mum, Paula, delivered a reading she had written, and the poem she created was clever, funny, and so perfectly them. I had the joy of helping polish the poem, because, in their words, Paula “has the humour of a 14-year-old boy,” and Lozzy didn’t want certain words sneaking in. So we worked together-ish on the final draft - keeping Paula’s personality and cheeky charm, but making sure it flowed with the rest of the ceremony. Paula delivered her poem so beautifully and it landed really well! 🤗
The ceremony included a classic ring exchange and traditional vows, with a tiny, personal twist from Lozzy that made it extra special and a little nod to “them”. And then it was time for the confetti moment. Just as we were about to send them off, rain began to pour outside. But Mount Without had weathered its own storms, so we decided - why not throw love right up in the air anyway! Guests gathered in a lovely bundled in, cosy line, Lozzy and Reuben entered married life to a spectacular cascade of confetti that didn’t just fall on them - it fell on everyone, filling the moment with celebration! Everyone then headed down into the crypt to celebrate the rest of the night (and some…!)
One fiiiiinal thing:
When it came down to the outfit…Lozzy told me straight up, “We love you in your fuscia, but it’s not for us.” Black it was, and black it stayed - absolutely stunning.
Lozzy and Reuben, your day was filled with laughter, love, tradition, and just the right amount of mischief. Thank you for letting me be part of it - it was everything!
